UPSC Exam Signature Size & Free Resizer
UPSC's One Time Registration (OTR) uses the same limits for the signature as for the photo: a JPG/JPEG between 20 KB and 300 KB, at least 350 x 350 pixels and at most 1000 x 1000 pixels. UPSC asks for the signature on white paper, preferably in black ink.
JPG, PNG or WebP · you can also paste (Ctrl+V)
This tool crops your signature to a 350 x 350 pixel square. A square is an unusual shape for a signature, so zoom out until the whole signature fits with white space above and below rather than cutting it off.
After upload UPSC shows a preview with a Reload Signature option. Once you click Confirm Upload, the system does not allow any change, so check it first.

How to make your UPSC Exam Signature in 4 steps
- Sign on plain white paper in the ink colour your form asks for (usually black), keeping the signature inside a small box.
- Photograph or scan the signature in even light, with no shadows across the paper.
- Pick the image in the tool, tap "Make paper white" if needed, then use Zoom and Move to crop tightly around the signature box.
- Check that the size and file size lines show ✅ (20 to 300 KB), then tap Download and upload the JPG.
Common reasons this signature is rejected
- A file under 20 KB after heavy compression, or over 300 KB.
- An image smaller than 350 x 350 pixels.
- Uploading a PDF. Only the photo ID is a PDF; the photo and signature must be JPG/JPEG.
- A poor-quality signature. UPSC says the application is then liable to be rejected.
Frequently asked questions
Will UPSC cancel my application because of ink colour?
UPSC's FAQ says candidature is not cancelled because of the size or colour of ink used, but a poor-quality photo or signature can make the application liable to rejection.
